OSATA Adjustable Bike Friday

This amazing adjustable bike can be adjusted with one allen wrench to fit riders 4ft 6in to 6ft 4in. A great riding bike that can grow with a child to adulthood or be used in a rental fleet.

OSATA means “One Size Adjusts to All” and it’s as amazing as it sounds. Originally built for a learn-to-ride program (“Safe Routes To School”). The bike frames ability to adjust to a wide range of sizes insures that the bike fits who ever is riding it that day.

One OSATA bike frame adjusts to fit riders 4 foot 6 to 6 foot 4.

This bike is a great choice for:

  • One bike that grows with your child all the way into adulthood. It really can do that!
  • Perfect for a Learn-To-Ride program – allows for a smaller number of bikes to serve a wider range of riders than any other bike on the market (less storage space needed etc..)
  • Perfect for a Rental Fleet for a hotel, cruise ship, lake-front rental business due to its ability to easily adjust the size for different riders.

This is how this unique bike is able to be fully-adjustable so it can easily be set-up for almost any rider.

Using one allen wrench to loosen a few bolts allows the seat-post, handle-bar post, and the main body frame to easily adjust several inches. This wide range of adjustment allows one bike to fit riders from 4’6″ – 6’4″.

Note: This bike does not fold but it does come apart which makes it still pack into a standard Airline check-able suitcase. Not being a folding bike actually seems to make it easier and faster for many people to pack into the TravelCase for air travel. It comes apart in the middle where it adjusts. However we can make a bike like this that folds,  just contact us and ask.

For fleet-sales we only build from Nov.-March.  Contact if you are interested and we will plan with you for best timing.

We love the adaptability of the OSATA fleet bikes we use for our Bike Safety Education program. To have bikes that adjust to fit our students; whether we are teaching 5th graders, do more advanced classes in our middle schools, have bike trips with older students, or even lead tours for visiting adults we have a flexible fleet that works for any situation. Being able to customize the fleet with the components we wanted was also very useful.

Finally, knowing we were supporting a company with great ethics and quality Made in America bikes was an added bonus. (One hope for improvement is better headsets that don't loosen- we're still having issues with this).

How many bikes is enough to have a “fleet”? Do you have examples of programs that have used a grant to help purchase bikes? What is your bulk pricing?

Hello Betsy. I sent your contact info over to our bike experts and they should be able to help you. All the best and happy cycling! J.

Buy America Compliant. What does this mean? Also, when you deliver a bike is it fully assembled. I’m no mechanic. I’m an 80 year old senior living on a fixed income in Berkeley and I need to exercise and ever since they closed the Y I haven’t been able to swim so I think bicycling is the answer. I like light bikes that are sturdy and can take me anywhere although most of my riding will be in town.

Allen, I know you’ve asked this question by email but to answer it for the general public, America Compliant is terminology related to certain grant money that is available for fleet sales. Also, we don’t usually deliver the bike ready to ride, but we’ll already have tuned it up and everything so the small amount of assembly is no big deal. Compacting the bike down a tad allows us to provide significantly less expensive shipping costs.

Everything in the bike industry is an option on all of our bikes, including the many small American manufacturers out there.

I will make only two comments:

      1. Right now, there’s a huge demand for bikes and bike parts, enough to overwhelm enormous manufacturers like Shimano. The smaller ones are even more overwhelmed. As long as you’re willing to exercise a little patience, I’m sure we can get you whatever you want.
      2. We did an anniversary bike where we tried to make a bike 100% American made and we got darn close, but couldn’t get all the way there. Tires are an example where you simply cannot find anything manufactured in America. So if you want a fully American bike, I’m sorry to say it’s simply not a possibility.

If you’d like to discuss this in more detail, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
