The Diamond Llama is our sturdiest frame made for adventure, even more so when the pavement ends. It takes our widest tires at 2.2 inches and handles gravel grinding, snow and dirt trails especially well for 20-inch wheels if you get the right tires(which this bike can handle). It’s ready to go with you on a fully-loaded tour, hundreds of miles across a continent or exploring your favorite old logging roads with 0 proprietary parts to do it(we only use standard bike parts on all of our bikes).

What is also very unique about this bike is that it is one of the only folding bikes in the world that can take a heavier rider. Most folding bike companies max around 230lbs total weight, we go up to 330lbs. max rider weight and still designed for rugged use. Have no fear, we are here to support you at Bike Friday.

  • Takes wider tires up to 2.2″ (5.7 cm)
  • Regular Rider Frame weight 240lbs.
  • Heavy Rider/Load frame is built for riders up to 330 lbs (150 kg)
  • The frame has braze-ons for front and rear racks for loaded touring

  • Electric-assist available – Rear or Front Drive E-Bike Systems(no mid-drive due to folding)

Great Service and Product

I am very late writing a review. I have a llama and have to say, it’s an incredible bike. Well assembled with a high attention to detail. Almost more importantly, I received stellar customer service AFTER my purchase and delivery. Customer service is often severely lacking these days post purchase but I couldn’t be happier with the level of support I received from Bike Friday. Keep up the good work!! Thanks!

Pocket Expedition!

In 2008 I bought a Pocket Expedition, which was the "out of a box" version of the Llama. With my previous touring bike having over 40K miles on it, and needing too many parts replaced, it was time for a "fly for free" upgrade!

When opening the neon my first response was "No Way! This can never ride any good". Eight miles later I was trying to shift gears with my thumbs (trigger shifters of my old bike) while the Pocket Expedition has grip shifters. I had already "forgotten" I was riding "little wheels". That is how quickly I got used to the Pocket Expedition.
Great for touring, commuting, day rides. No regrets at all. Actually, my wife is in need of a new bike, and we are eye-balling the New World Tourist for her.

This Bike Takes Me Everywhere!

When I say everywhere, I mean it! Urban commuting, wandering country roads, even off-road on gravel! It packs into a suitcase that doubles as a trailer. What can't this bike do?
