BUILD THIS BIKE

The most versatile Cargo Bike is perfect for Travel around town or around the world pulling large loads and Stores in a small footprint if you have a small space due to its unique design.

When looking at the Bike Friday Haul-A-Day you are looking at the one bike that can do it all. What you are looking at is a bike that is an SUV, a Mini-Van, and a Truck all-in-one. What you are looking at is a solution that will enhance your life, and will allow you to do your part to remove one car from the road. What you are looking at is the Haul-A-Day, the multi-use bike that is a wonderful solution for families, breweries, bike couriers, postal workers and anyone else who has to carry a heavy or awkward load on their bike.

And now this modern, working-bike solution also has the biggest upgrade we have seen in our 26 years of building bikes, which is E-Assist. The E-Assist concept is the direction in which the world of transportation is moving. It allows any rider of any strength to get to a destination faster with less effort. In addition, many of us are looking for new mobility alternatives that will have less of an impact on the world around us. Using modern battery-powered machines that are charged from clean energy sources, is one of the brightest prospects in the future of transportation.

We are inspired by great companies like Tesla, which started with cars and is now taking aim at trucks as well as non-transportation uses such as solar-power plus battery storage systems that are scalable to houses, businesses and even communities.  We want to be part of this climate and energy revolution that is on the verge of changing transportation, and at the same time offer our customers a healthy lifestyle. We testing solar for charging our own bikes right now with great success because we won’t do it ourselves, we can’t expect you to do it either. For that reason, our E-Assist uses an “assist over the throttle” system. If we wanted to make mopeds we could, but we make bikes and we love the feeling of freedom that pedaling gives.

We want to help you do your part while also promoting a healthy lifestyle, which is the reason we use assist over the throttle system. If we wanted to make mopeds we could but we make bikes and love the feeling of freedom that pedaling gives.

Below you will see how easy it is to adjust all the main aspects of a bike so it can fit almost any rider in your home.  We are the only company in the world doing this and we think it’s pretty great!

Being the only company in the U.S. making long-tail cargo bikes, we want to ensure you are able to safely and happily get yourself around just like we do here in Eugene, Oregon. We have a nice mix of flats and hills which means we test these bikes on ourselves first, knowing you want the best. We make the lightest, most capable cargo bikes in the industry which can fit on the front of a bus(one of the very few that can), fit on a normal rooftop bike rack, comfortably in an RV or camp trailer and as a bonus, can come apart and travel with you no matter where you go in the world. It is our core, after all, to ensure you can travel with any of our bikes.

Also available as an E-Bike:

The facts about E-Assist: It’s a bike and bikes were meant to be pedaled. We here at Bike Friday are cyclist first so the last thing we wanted to do was take that away from the bike. We build bikes and always will. What pedal-assist does is it opens a whole new world. Pedal-assist allows you to load your 60 lbs. kiddo on the back, a gallon of milk along with all the other fixings for dinner and climb the hill home but with a little support-crew helping you reach the crest. It doesn’t take away your ability to be a cyclist. On the contrary, it only enhances it.

Optional Heavy Load Up-Grade:

Our basic Haul-A-Day is designed for a Rider weight limit of 220 pounds (100 kg) and Cargo weight limit 200-pounds (90 kg) for a total of 420lbs(it adds-up quick once you get a kiddo or two plus a bike repair kit and groceries). The heavier rider upgrade(some have coined this the “HAULA ABDUL”) available to 260 pounds (118 kg) and heavier load upgrade available to 250lbs (113 kg)Total weight of 510lbs.

Radical!

thanks for making such a cool, fun bike! I’ve been riding it everyday rain or shine since the buying it from the crew at Electric Lady and it’s made each ride a fun experience for me and my kids 🙂

Superb

I was recently able to acquire two used early-model HADs with rim brakes for very cheap after pining for one for months and trying to find ways to scrounge up enough cash. Serendipity. I have two small kids, so car trips have been significantly reduced. I've also hauled friends up the block during bar crawls. It can carry just about anything you want. I also deliver food with Burrito Brigade in Eugene, OR every week, and can carry about 100 burritos in the slings, or as much with a Burley trailer in tow. I'm in love with everything about it. I own five bikes, and if I could only keep one, this would be it. My wife was skeptical at first, but she's sold on hers, too.

Love My Haul-a-Day

I got my orange HaD as part of the Kickstarter.com campaign.
I was looking for a cargo bike to replace my car for short errands and was stoked to find one made in Eugene. What I didn't expect was a bike that's so much fun to ride!
My HaD recently carried 30 lbs of dog food, 24 canning jars and 12 rolls of toilet paper and more, in one run. With its 20" wheels, the load stays low so the bike doesn't sway back and forth when you stand on the pedals, and it gets rolling really easily.
I've enjoyed fine-tuning the fit with the highly adjustable frame and figuring the best ways to carry different loads. I now have two Ortlieb panniers for our rainy winter weather on one side and the HaD sling on the other, with a cooler bag stashed inside for quick grocery runs.
So far, so good. There are very few things I'd change about this bike, and it's definitely working to keep my car cold and lonely.
Thanks Bike Friday!
