Pastor Alden Ho on Bike Friday

"He who is truly converted will be so filled with the love of God that he will long to impart to others the joy that he himself possesses."

Hi Bike Friday,

Many years ago I saw your bikes and wanted one SO BAD! I talked with you on the phone but could not afford it. Well, being a youth pastor I took it to the Lord in prayer that if He saw fit to provide me something like this (hoping that it would be BF).

I began speaking to youth all over the country and around the world, so much I took a leave of absence from church ministry to concentrate on speaking to youth all over the world as a youth motivational speaker. Well, the Lord opened a door for me to get a BF used with all the stuff - suitcase, racks and fenders - Whoopie!

Now, when I travel I always take my BF (it was a NWT, but I converted it to a Pocket Rocket) because I use my Bike Friday as a spiritual illustration when I preach, and during my free time I'm riding it.

The good pastor spreads the small-wheeled gospel

I cannot tell you the comments I get on the bike when speaking to hundreds and thousands of youth and adults every year. I took it to Antigua and St. Croix when I was invited to teach them about bicycle evangelism.

Last year I toured with it through Amish country in Pennsylvania. The Friday handled unbelieveable - even loaded! I hit 44 mph fully loaded and it was SOLID! Two months ago, I hit 54 mph without any panniers - Superb!

I was in a plane crash 14 years ago as an aerial photographer. God has been very good to me, because I am supposed to be dead. A few years ago I took a group of youth on a 1,200 mile cross country ride in 18 days.

Thank you for making one awesome product! My next bike is hopefully going to be a Bike Friday Tandem - Lord willing! But I really don't want to push the Lord on this!

Thanks again for a great bike and Awesome Customer Service.

God bless!

PASTOR ALDEN HO's SERMON ON THE MOUNT

"The greatest want of the world is the want of men - men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men who conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall."

Here is a summarized version of a message from Pastor Ho, using his Bike Friday as a prop to demonstrate his points.

Point A

Let us say that being a Christian is like riding a bike, & the bike represents our belief. Anybody can ride this bike if they really wanted to, just as many believe it doesn't matter what religious faith or denomination you belong to.

If you plan on riding your religious beliefs anywhere, you'd better make sure that the basics are covered, such as pumping up the tires, and knowing your basics such as John 3:16-"For God so loved the world"..and Genesis 1:1-"In the Beginning"... But you will eventually find that the further you try to ride, the more uncomfortable you will get, because those simple verses don't get you very far, and you will need to know more, in order to pedal further.

The further you pedal, you will discover that the bike does not fit you well, causing you to feel very comfortable, causing great pain. If the bike is too big it will affect your lower back and your hips from rocking side to side and give you saddle sores. If the bike is too small it will affect the mid part of your back, and case a lot of knee and thigh strain. The further you read into the Bible, the more you will understand that not all religions are the same. Some believe this, while others believe that.

In order to be comfortable on your bike, you might exchange parts in an attempt to alter its size, excepting certain Biblical truths while rejecting others, but you will find that that will still not fit very well, for the bike frame itself-the infrastructure, is wrong. Therefore you will need find a new bike that has the correct measurements for you to ride comfortably and the distance, just as you may need to change your religious denomination, because it doesn't fit what you now have studied to be correct.

Point B

In some societies, the church is the very center of their lives, so their lives revolve around the church. Unfortunately, we live in a society were we have become the center hub, and therefore view the church as the outer part of the wheel and having to spin around our lives. Have we gotten caught in Satan's centrifugal pull away from the center?

Point C

Who or what is the center of our lives? Bike spokes represent the many facets of life-i.e: work, family, commute, neighbors, people on the telephone All the spokes spin around the hub-center of the wheel. All the facets of life spin around the center. If I were to loosen or tighten any spokes disproportionately, the wheel would go out of control.

Point D

Let's look at the center of a bike wheel, the Skewer: [explain what skewer does- show wheel, hub wheel spins, spoke hold it in place, hub turns] Christ should be the skewer of our life

1. [people living without Christ] remove skewer (insert wheel w/o skewer)-this won't stay, you need the skewer to hold it all in place. Others allow Him to become the center of our life(place skewer in place, insert- don't tighten)

2. [people who think they have Christ/half-baked Christians] replace skewer - loose (hold front brake tight, release to let wheel fall out) besides letting Christ into our life.

3. [people who let Christ take complete hold of their lives] tighten skewer We have to let Him take hold of us (tighten)

John 15:5 (Read)

So, I ask you friends, Who or what is in the center of your life? Have you allowed Christ to grab hold of the very core of your being? I challenge you this week to take a closer look at the spokes of your life. And who is at the very core of it.

Allow God to help you through those challenges-because you are not able to do it on our own power. Phil. 4:13 - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".

Friends, give Christ your entire life, not just a part of it, let Him take complete hold of it, so that when the bumps of tribulation and the potholes of temptation try to wipe us out on our Bike for Life, we can rest assured that we are secured.
