SCREEEECH! OK you'd have to have the nose of a horse, but if you get down in the "aero position", this little device could stop you from some serious bug-sucking ... These shots came in from a new group of Friday funsters in Washington State. "Spiderman" has clearly been googling the bike stuffarama stores for something to keep the spots off his spots and that chilly wind off his knuckles. He's done it to two Fridays - a tikitTM as well. We shot him an email as the crow flies, asking for more details on his schwag, but we'll just have to wait til he reaches his next rest stop. Meanwhile, we got an email from Pocket Llama owner Benedict Noel who's eating all kinds of strange creatures in Central America in the name of charity ... check out his adventure ... UPDATE from SPIDERMAN doing his best 'merican-Aussie accent ever! Hello There and G'Donya Mite ! The fairing is/was a one of a kind project that Hugh helped orchestrate at my request. He connected me with Karl of Karl Zipper ''fame'' whom makes all the fairings for Easy Racer recumbent dikes (of which I own a Fold Rush AND a JAVELIN) The former has a full length fairing. SOOooo I thought it would a ''cute'' idea to try an have one made for my THEN first acquired Bike Friday...my Pocket Llama...SOOoooo BF sent a BF to Karl so he could ''fashion'' a fairing that would fit and ''work'' on my Pocket Llama BF....As it turns out I have found that this fairing can easily be attached to my TIKIT as well as to my JAVELIN recumbent bike. All it takes is to change the aluminum brackets that can be screwed on to the handle bars of ALL 3 of these bikes...and the aluminum ''bars'' that are attached to the fairing are then screwed in to the clips...and VOILA ! the pictures I sent to BF show the two BF bikes with the fairing attached. I have not, as yet done any time trials to see IF or WHETHER my downhill speed is faster or slower with and/or without the fairing. BUT it is the INTIMIDATION ''effect'' that I really like ! Ofcourse ,the fairing will keep snow off of ones hands when riding in a snow storm !.... SOOOooooo there you have it ! The final cost to me was $185.oo. BF may want to contract with Karl Zipper to offer this unique fairing as an optional extra for ALL BF models...in my humble opinion. I have recently counted the total number of BF owners amongst the informal bike riding group that I ride with every Tuesday...is now 10 !..SOOoooo it is my wish that the BF Company give us some kind of RECOGNITION ! Could be as little as an honorable mention in upcoming issues of The Folding Flyer...AND ? maybe some special DISCOUNT for accessories purchased by any of the members of this group. AND maybe by having BF give our group ''free advertising'' there may be MORE road bike owners whom add a new BF to their existing ''stable'' of riding ''MACHINES'' ...as well as recruit MORE members to join The Bellingham ''chapter'' of BF owners...NOOOOoooo ? or EH ? SPIDERMAN ...also known as ''Dr'' John SCREEEEECH! Dr John, just point your Friday fairing towards www.bikefriday.com/clubs, send along the cybergoodies, and you'll be up in lights. Furthermore, BF club members bet a standing 10% off accessories. They just have to know their magic code. Shhhh! Send more Friday frivolities to blog@bikefriday.com |
