As a kid growing up on a farm in rural Minnesota, my bike was the key to my world. Motorcycles and cars replaced this childhood passion, until about five years ago when a friend purchased a new bike and his hand me down landed at my door. We formed a riding group, tackling the Hotter ‘N Hell 100 in Wichita Falls, Texas and the Ride for the Roses in Austin.

After leaving Texas, I landed in Australia where I continued road riding and began commuting on my bike to work each day in the land down under.

For the past four years, I’ve used various methods to enjoy cycling with my special needs son. He loves riding on our tandem, the wind on his face and the freedom of experiencing cycling in ways that would otherwise be unavailable to him. I feel very fortunate to be able to share this experience with him.
