A PACKING CONTEST

I'd love to see a fast packing contest. If it were "real-world" enough I'd
travel to Eugene on any given weekend to watch it.

Here's what real world means to me:

-- Combines fast packing with TSA-proofing. When the competitor throws up
his arms to signal completion, a judge would be able to lift everything out
of the case as a single monolith, rotate it 360 in two planes, shake at
random, and place it back into the case as a single object. A 120 second
penalty, the cost of the object, and $5.40 for shipping would be imposed
for every bit that falls out of the monolith.

-- All accessories smaller than a water bottle would be packed in some
readily available bike bag such as a Carradice Barley, which itself would
be packed in the monolith.

-- The monolith could be created with only reusable fasteners such as
Velcro straps. Zip ties and strapping tape would not be allowed.

-- The bike would be packed using all the protecting tubes and sleeves
supplied by GG.

-- The bike would have been ridden and the chain, chainwheels, and cassette
at least a little grimy.

-- The case would be on the ground or floor. No friendly table height
allowed.

-- Packed in the case, and included in the monolith, would be the following
readily available accessories, all of which would be properly installed on
the bike, or in the bike bag at the beginning of the timed contest:

(pr) GG fenders
(1) GG foldable rear rack
(2) Cateye cages
(2) bottles
(2) inner-tubes
(1) GG tool kit
