Who else lost weight?

My Pocket Llama was the first bike I'd ridden in decades. and, in truth, I bought it with the hope that I'd continue to ride it, rather than having the excercise program dribble out after a few weeks.

10 months later, 40 pounds lighter, the health benefits are great. I especially took delight in eating fresh pears from the tree in my yard in the presence of people on the Atkin's diet. My weight loss has been much more enjoyable than theirs.

It was especially good to pack up the llama and take it to my Mom's house for a week in February and ride it on the Oregon Coast. That wouldn't have worked out as nicely with a standard bike.

Re: Who else lost weight?

Mike, I met and rode with you on the just completed Cycle Oregon event.

When I returned home after riding seven days and over 300 miles, (Yes, I sagged some.), I weighed about the same BUT the big this is that my body fat dropped from 25.8 to 21.6 as measured on a Tanita scale. The Tanita scale allows you to enter your height and age, and shoots some mild electrical current that you can't feel up through your feet to get body fat measurement.

So, I am ecstatic that the cycling this past week dropped me from a measurement that was in the more than normal body fat to a normal range (for my age and height).

No I just need to figure out how to maintain that drop in body fat given that it is clear that my regular commute to work mileage is 70 miles a week total and not nearly as strenuous. :D

Re: Who else lost weight?

That's great, both Mikeraz' 40lb loss and your reduction in body fat. If you can keep your body weight the same and keep reducing body fat, you'll be a monster on a bike. Plus, you'll be a babe magnet.

Re: Who else lost weight?

Congratulations on your achievement! I'm looking forward to similar results. How far are you riding every week?

Re: Who else lost weight?

The base ride is 50 miles for commuting - two five mile trips a day. When I follow through for some weekend riding I usually add another 30 or so. A metric or full century usually fits in once a month.
