Symptoms
Do you have any advice on the pivots and taking care of creaks within them?
Causes
Creaking and sqeeking hinges generally mean that the hinge pins are dry.
Solutions
The only maintainance the hinge pins need is occassional lubrication. In the factory, the hinge pins are greased with white lithium grease, which is readily available at auto parts stores. I would advise you to remove the pins once a year or so and apply a heavy coat of grease then reassemble.
The ideal solution would to remove and grease the hinges. For a quick fix, placing several drops of oil on the ends of the pins often does the trick.
