How to get Bike Friday kickstands
Old ID
Symptoms
I want a kickstand for my bike, but I can't find it in the on-line catalog.
Causes
Like fenders, kickstands often need to be customized to fit your Bike Friday. In 1999, we changed the way kickstands attach to many of the bikes, so which kickstand you need will depend on the bike.
Solutions
The Bike Friday service department will be able to determine which kickstand you need. Call us, or send e-mail using the "Write to us" form (see link on left), and request kickstand info. At the time of this writing, prices for kickstands range from US$8 to US$25. Written September 20, 2000 by Bike Friday staff member Steve Ransom.
Will & Gisela Cronyn (wagcronyn@worldnet.att.net) adds:
As tourists who have used our New World Tourists on hundreds of miles of Alaskan dirt roads and numerous other trips, we find it positively luxurious to have kickstands. No more having to put our bikes down in the dirt, or trying to prop them up against some flimsy roadside stake only to have them fall over. No more putting them down with the pannier we want on the underside of the bike. To heck with the banana gang guys who want to trim off every last gram! We love our Bike Friday kickstands!

Debbie Cassidy (cassidy@epp.agfa.com) adds:
When ordering a kickstand from Bike Friday be sure to specify the bicycle model since the kickstand arm may need to be cut to match the specific model. If the bike model is specified then Bike Friday will perform the cut (if needed) otherwise the kickstand will be shipped uncut and you may need to perform the cut.
