The rain threatened to return but never really did - perfect, overcast yet warm warm cycling weather. This is before the 'Big Dip'. Tim has to pedal hard to keep up on his once-was Rocket Llama now Pocket Llama. This bike's been stolen, recovered, and had it's paint changed 3 times! Monty and Gaylynn from BF put their new Tilite XL through its paces. Who'd have thought Gaylynn is a 4th time cancer survivor? There they go! Monty set the pace. pulling us along at 25-30 mph - so much for the Sutherlin amble. However, we did catch Maxi and George who'd left a while ago... Gaylynn seems to be standing in a strange fog - perhaps the toy soldier is casting a spell on her? This is Tolly's in Oakland, a real live soda fountain.

The back of Tolly's Oakland, where the chef made Tim Link a birthday peanut milkshake just like he'd remembered from 20 years ago ... The covered bridge came in darn handy when it bucked down briefly! Ling and Steve discuss wedding plans, Tim is glad he's not getting trapped like that! People who play together, stay together ... The Sutherlin Inn's TV's had been sabotaged by the previous cable provider such that my Peru DVD wasn't playable - two laptops and strained ears did the trick.

Anne Holmquist has done this tour at least twice! A fabulous 75 cent coffee stop with a deck overhanding the river... A meal of Ray's plastic bags - very appetizing. The Sunday route stops at this park with an iron pump after 17 scenic riverside miles. The ice-cream stop, barely 10 minutes after the Sunday lunch stop! Anne and Richard at the ice cream stop. Richard is already falling asleep after the double choc sugar hit.
