Carrington, Mark - Pocket Rocket across Australia
COAST TO COAST DOWNUNDER. My friend, Collis Ivey runs a bike tour company - Cycle Across Oz. Collis rides a recumbent Greenspeed trike and a Moulton. After riding Perth to Melbourne during the Centenary of Federation celebrations, he set up Cycle Across Oz to share his passion for riding across this great continent of ours. Cycle Across Oz ran trips from Melbourne to Perth and from Perth to Melbourne in 2002. They did Perth to Melbourne again in 2004 and then in 2006 Darwin to Adelaide. In 2009, the trip runs from Rockhampton on the Capricorn Coast to Darwin on the Arafura Sea. Each trip put on by Cycle Across Oz has been the first time that an organised tour has covered the particular route, and each trip has provided a unique chance for ordinary people to do the extraordinary, irrespective of the type of bike that they ride.
I have ridden 3 trips - in 2002, 2004 and 2006 - the last of which was on my Pocket Rocket - the first time we have had a Bike Friday on tour. I have added a New World Tourist to my collection. I will be riding the 2009 edition - most likely on the Pocket Rocket.
