LAST UPDATED AUG 17, 2007: Program of events for Friday funsters

We've got a nice line up of Friday friendly entertainment each evening on Cycle Oregon when you get into camp. There will be a special tent where Friday folk and friends can gather. Of course, Cycle Oregon will also offer great entertainment, choose to attend whatever you feel interests you. All cyclists are welcome to attend the Bike Friday evening entertainment program - we're an inclusive community! Start time of the event TBA - see the special Bike Friday whiteboard at each campsite and watch this space.

SAT 8th, SISTERS: REGISTRATION, MEET THE FRIDAY FAMILY: Hanna Scholz, Nicole Tiffany, Lynette Chiang, Tim Link and Alan & Theresa Scholz from Bike Friday will be at the registration table to welcome you. Hanna and Nicole will give you your wristbands and a surprise giftie from Bike Friday. Don't miss out!

SUN 9th, LA PINE: BIKE FRIDAY CO-FOUNDER WELCOME: Alan Scholz , Bike Friday co-founder, inventor of the Burley Child Trailer and other accolades, will present one of his ever interesting talks on the company history and our expanded mission - and why Bike Friday is what it is today. To hear Alan speak is to know the spirit of Bike Friday.

MON 10th, DIAMOND LAKE: SERVICE TIPS AND TRICKS: Customer Service expert Tim Link tell you how to keep your Friday in ship shape, and discuss the top service issues. There will be plenty of time for Q&A.

TUE 11th, DIAMOND LAKE: WHAT DO YOU DO ON A FRIDAY? : Story time ... the Cycle Oregon Travel Story Contest winners will read their stories and tell you more about how a Bike Friday enhances their lives. Feel free to volunteer snippets of your own adventures.

WED 12th, DORENA LAKE: VIRTUAL FACTORY TOUR: In place of an actual Bike Friday factory tour, Bike Friday will present a virtual factory tour: a video walk through the factory showing how a Bike Friday is made, and the latest developments including the factory's new tikit line, which produces the world's fastest folder with the famous Friday ride. Plus, staff members will be bussed out to Dorena to meet the folks they make bikes for - you! View the factory tour from 2005 to see how far we've come.

THUR 13th, OAKRIDGE: ROUTE 66 BY BICYCLE: Movie time ... Bike Friday presents Route 66 by Bicycle: Pedaling the Mother Road, a 45 minute video of a classic cross country expedition along the 'olde road' led by Friday Friendly Tour company operator and Race Across America legend Lon Haldeman and PACTOUR. FRIDAY 14th, RAINBOW: Friday Friendly Touring Companies (FFTC) - Cycle Oregon is one such company, owned or managed by a Bike Friday customer (Executive Director Jerry Norquist) who understands why Bike Friday exists. Some possible items: Friday folk will relate tales of tour companies they've used and their experiences; travel and gear tips; Lynette Chiang will show shots of the original Cycle Oregon Homecoming 2003 and talk about her recent trip with Ciclismo Classico.

2007 BIKE FRIDAY HOMECOMING @ CYCLE OREGON

~ Sep 8-15, 2007 ~100 VIP Bike Friday slots!

UPDATE April 18, 2007: Well, Cycle Oregon is full, and we managed to attract 97 Bike Friday registrations. That's just 3 shy of our goal of a 'century', but a great effort nonetheless! If you missed out, you can still enter our story contest to vie for one of two spots we've kept aside on the tour. A prize pack of Bike Friday goodies will be awarded after the close of each month, but the grand judging will happen end of July, announced August 5, and two lucky people will pedal off into the rainstorm, sorry, sunset, on Cycle Oregon. See below.

STORY CONTEST: Win a spot on the Cycle Oregon/BF Homecoming Tour Sep 8-15, 2007

Cycle Oregon is officially full, with a big waiting list. However, two lucky Bike Friday owners will get to do the tour even though entries are closed. We have retained 2 spots as a Super Prize Giveaway: just write a compelling story, no more than 2 letter sized pages, about something you've done on a Friday. It can be a tour, a tootle, perhaps it's your livelihood or your experience on a previous Cycle Oregon. Maybe your Bike Friday saved your life, or at least your sanity. You must include at least one photograph of yourself and your Bike Friday (please, no riderless bikes against fences - it's not about the bike!).
Each month until July 31, 2007, we'll award a prize package gathered from the inner sanctum of Bike Friday inventory for the best entry(s). All entries will be automatically rolled into the next month's judging so your story has a chance to win each month, if it's judged the 'best of the bunch' that month.
We reserve the right to publish all submitted entries on the Bike Friday website and newsletters unless you'd really rather we didn't. Please indicate whether you are OK with having your email or contact information attached to the story.
Email it with subject line "Homecoming 2007 Story Contest", to Lynette Chiang, lynettec@bikefriday.com Need some inspiration?

HURRY! LAST CHANCE! (Tour is now full)

FALL may seem a double century away, but several Friday folk have already leapt into the saddle and signed up for the 2007 Bike Friday Homecoming. Start planning now - more than 1000 riders have already registered for this milestone year: the 20th Anniversary of 'The Best Bike Ride in America'. Cycle Oregon are expecting a big show of small wheels from the Friday fraternity - we've even got our own special link on the CO website. Here's a whiff of that rarified Oregon air to get you in motion:

This year is our 20th Anniversary, and we're going all out. The Cycle Oregon 2007 course is an amazing Cascades loop that takes in wide-open high desert, primeval old-growth forest, pristine blue lakes, bubbling mountain streams and even moonscapes of lava rock. We'll ride on roads that cars don't even know about. Your week on wheels will capture the true essence of Oregon - including the small-town hospitality we're famous for.
