The Australian BIKE FRIDAY Club Inc will hold its 17th annual gathering from 3rd to 7th April 2013 in South Australia at Port Elliot, 80km south of Adelaide. The first ride will begin at 10am on Thursday April 4th. Good Friday is 29 March and school holidays begin on 12 April.
Tucked on the tip of Horseshoe Bay, between Victor Harbour and the old paddle steamer port of Goolwa near the Murray Mouth, the spacious grassy campground is in earshot of the sea.
Port Elliot has six coffee shops, a great bakery and not a fast food outlet in sight. Arrive early to try the Flying Fish Cafe on the beach of Horseshoe Bay. Visit Granite Island by historic horse tram to see Little Penguins.
Huff and puff up The Bluff. Enjoy the delights of the Bavarian Cake Shop. Goolwa Wharf Market will be trading on Sunday morning. Several wineries including Currency Creek might be on the route. Visit the Whale Watch Centre.
Encounter Bay Bike Path goes from Goolwa to The Bluff. Hindmarsh Island can be visited by riding high over the controversial bridge at Goolwa which allows access to the Murray Mouth. Stay long enough for a ferry trip to Kangaroo Island either before or after ABFC. Some real Bike Fridays live there.

How to get to Port Elliot:
Take the local train from Adelaide to Noarlunga Centre terminus for $3.00 concession, bikes and seniors travel free after 9am, ride via McLaren Vale on the Coast to Vines Rail Trail, over Old Willunga Hill to Mt Compass where you can pick some strawberries at Agon Berry Farm or drop in for some Alexandrina Cheese, then follow the signs to Port Elliot. Good bakery shops on the way.

ACCOMMODATION: There is a large campground on the safe sandy beach front, a variety of cabins including some with three rooms and plenty of space for tents and vans. First come best dressed. COST: The cost is $80 per person which covers the Saturday night formal dinner and the Sunday lunch.
REGISTRATION: Payment of $80 per person by 1 February 2013 should be made by cheque or postal order made out to WD & MY Lamond and posted to them at 64 Boronia Drive, Salamander Bay NSW 2317. Please indicate any special dietary requirements at that time and include the model and colour of your BF. All participants will be required to sign the ABFC indemnity form and all need to be responsible for their own insurance, road safety and bicycle repairs. Please bring spare tubes, patches and locks.
Children are always welcome at ABFC. The charity recipient will be Guide Dogs Victoria.
