Bali Tour, Prologue: Pre-Departure & Arrival

English with Indonesian translation.

The Bali tour last time was so special. It was joined by the largest participants ever since the first Bali tour, and also attended by GGC representative,  Ms Ruthy Kanagy who came straight from Oregon to join the tour. According to Ruthy, GGC production is only based on orders. With 30plus production staffs, it produces approx 8 bikes perday. Major customers are Japan with 1000plus bikes and Indonesia with 100plus bikes.

Bali Tour kali (katanya) sangat istimewa...
Karna selain diikuti banyak peserta (30an) juga ada tamu istimewa dari Oregon, Ruthy Kanagy, representative dari Green Gear Cycle (GGC) produsen Bike Friday.

Menurut dia, GGC hanya produksi berdasarkan pesanan dengan metode just-in-time production.
Output per hari cuman 8 sepeda dengan staf produksi hanya sekitar 30an orang
Pembeli BF terbesar adalah Jepang sekitar 1000an, kemudian Indonesia sekitar ratusan...
Jadi sebenarnya BF itu kayak hasil karya industri rumahan gt....

For me, it was the first time to join such tour ever. It really needs energy to pack a bike into a suitcase. Not to mention the effort to carry it. No wonder my back & arm was painful the day after the departure

Buat ane, ini kali pertama dalam hidup ikutan tour kayak ginian
Masupin sepeda kedalem koper aja udah makan tenaga, belum ngebawanya
Bangun tidur esoknya langsung lengan pegel2 karna kagak biasa bepergian bawa barang berat
Koper berisi sepeda & sebagian pakaian beratnya setelah ditimbang 24kg.

When we arrived in Bali, the mild winter breeze from Australia  really excited us

Tiba di Bali, langsung disambut angin sejuk. Masih kebagian hembusan angin winter dari Australia rupanya. Nambah semangat untuk segera gowes.

Time to unpack and assembly the bike. We didn't care to any spectator at the hotel yard. We were as busy as the rock band crew preparing a show.

Nah waktunya pusing kepala untuk buka koper & rakit sepeda.
Kagak peduli ngrakitnya jadi tontonan orang, dihalaman hotel
Dah kayak group rock ngadain tour aja qeqeqq...

When all the bikes were ready, everyone has became so impatient to ride. But the first destination was a bike shop. Ruthy wanted to fixed her Tikit's brake. Well, actually it was not the main reason to the bike shop. Everyone was so curious to see a bike shop in Bali..

Selesai rakit-merakit, dah gak sabar untuk gowes.
Tujuan pertama.... toko sepeda, halahhhhh. Alasannya formalnya mau betulin Tikitnya tante Ruthy, remnya ngadat, padahal... pada laper mata mo liat onderdil sepeda.

From the bike shop, we hovered along the streets of Bali, looking for dinner... We looked after a place that was bike friendly; where we could park our bike safely, eat nicely and sit comfortably.

Abis dari toko sepeda, langsung puter2 cari makan. Waktu dah larut malem, sementara perut dah minta diisi. Kita cari tempat yang bike-frindly, tempatnya enak buat nongkrong & sepedanya bisa ditaruh deket2 & diliatin + makanan & kopinya harus enak...

The western cuisine served there, were not so suitable for several pax. Other pax that nite preferred a very hot rice with lots of chillies not far away from the place

Wah.. jenis makanannya memang kurang cocok buat perut melayu....
Beberapa peserta kelihatan bersungut2...
Buat perut melayu yang tahan lasak, lebih memilih nasi pedess ibu Andika yang lagi heboh..

Here comes the youngest participant ........and the senior  participant ..

Nah ini dia peserta termuda untuk tour kali ini..
Dan peserta yang sudah tidak terlalu muda...

Second day in Bali, everyone was so enthusiastic. However, dark clouds hanging in the sky. No sunshine at all. Those who wore sandals made the right decision, including Ruthy who put the fenders on her Tikit

Hari kedua tour, semua orang kelihatan sangat antusias..
Namun dilangit kelihatan awan tebal, matahari tidak kelihatan
Nah jadi mikir nih, pake sepatu ato sepatu sandal...
(Yang memakai sandal ternyata keputusan tepat)
Pagi2 Ruthy minta adpis, apakah perlu pasang fender? Saya bilang pasang aja..
Padahal gak punya bayangan sama sekali medan gowes yang akan ditempuh kayak apa

Swarmed the quiet streets of Bali.

Langsung berhamburan dikesepian pagi jalanan Bali ...

Never miss a chance to pose on landmarks, as usual..

Seperti biasa, kagak tahan godaan monumen, langsung mejeng...

Cycling along the paddy fields, a rare experience...

Bersepeda disepanjang sawah, pengalaman langka...

Nobody can ride on slippery paths...

Lebih baik dituntun daripada kecebur sawah...

Ruthy Kanagy, a cycling enthusiast from Oregon. Professionally managed her cycling cadence.
Always checks her routes on the GPS along the way. She rides for an hour everyday around her office in Oregon. According to her, there were many cycling themes on weekends, one of them served strawberry tart at the finish point. In Jakarta we have Diding satay to motivate riders.

Legenda gowes dari Oregon. Umurnya hampir kepala enam.
Sangat pandai mengatur irama gowes..Selalu berhenti lihat GPS ato moto2... kalo dah capek..
Setiap hari bersepeda disekitar kantor saat makan siang satu jam.
Akhir pekan join gowes dengan ratusan club sepeda di Oregon.
Acara gowes akhir pekan di Oregon sangat bervariasi, katanya.
Misalnya ada acara gowes berthema "Strawberry Tart Weekend".
Diakhir gowes para peserta disuguhi kue tart strawberry.
Samalah kayak sate Diding gt, supaya peserta termotivasi...
