I am the President of the Colorado Springs Cycling Club (www.bikesprings.org) and as such a ardent supporter of Seriously Social Cycling. Our club has ~250 members and has been active in the Colorado Springs cycling scene for almost 20 years. I am a die-hard supporter of cycling, multi-modal transportation and companies that care enough to do their best for their customers.

Stan and Karen Hill, BF Club of Colorado Springs

After wrestling full size bikes to Europe (once) and several trips using rental bikes (with varying success), taking our own bikes that are comfortable, familiar, AND can travel as regular luggage made a lot of sense. So, we are now NWT owners! We have lived in Colorado Springs since 1971, are active in the Colorado Springs Cycling Club (www.bikesprings.org), enjoy social rides with friendly people, and travel frequently.

Beauchamps and their tandem

Green Gear Cycling has always impressed me w/their amazing customer service and I had no idea just how over the top you all are until we finally bit the bullet and ordered the Twin Air.

My wife CeCe, being from Eugene herself is excited to support a local company and you all have done an amazing job of convincing her to spend over $7k on a tandem w/out even having a chance to look it over in person! Who would have thought!

I am looking forward to starting a local chapter of Bike Friday Riders in the Colorado Springs/Denver area and can already tell that we are soooo suited the the BF lifestyle.

It's how we've done the "big tire" bikes and we very much look forward to continuing our cycling adventure on such a unique and well made product. I am a ride leader for many of the rides we put on w/our club here and BF riders will always be welcome.

We'll be the first BF to regularly ride w/CSCC but we'll start by announcing a monthly BF specific ride in the Colorado Springs area. Just wait until you see how much press your bike will get from our area. I am an amazing sales person for products that I believe in. I'd love to be the local "BF Customer Advocate" :-)

I am also a registered League Cycling Instructor #1311 w/LAB. Oh, we've been tandeming for 10 years now, riding away from our reception in Eugene in 1995 on our trusty Cannondale Adventure-mobile. We ride year round day and night, even in the dead of winter. Nokian Extreme studded tires make riding in the snow here too much fun. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't tried it. We even do tandem mountain biking at night in the snow!

PLANNED RIDES: Our BF rides will be very similar to one of the CSCC Sunday Social Rides (www.bikesprings.org) that I lead every week.

Depending on participant level and enthusiasm, we can take you on a route of 15-30 miles taking in many of the sites of our beautiful city.

Starting downtown @Acacia Park, we will ride through our newest city park, America the Beautiful Park (started our life as Confluence Park but City Council thought AtheB sounded "better" w/ it's view of Pikes Peak) and onto a new paved trail that heads west. A tour of Old Colorado City would be in order and then onto historic Manitou Springs.

Gentle climbing would be the order as we ascended into the immdediate foothills of 14,110ft Pikes Peak itself. Once leaving Manitou Springs, we would enter the South entrance of Garden of the Gods, a a truly spectacular red rock geologic formation that is one of the top tourist spots here in the city.

A bit of climbing rollers is required but it's a 20mph zone w/a huge dedicated bike/ped section of roadway. Leaving GoftheG, we would continue North up the West Side of town continuing to climb ever so slightly until we turn East for a smoking downhill run to the Pikes Peak Greenway trail that runs North/South through the city.

It's undergoing construction right now at points, so we'd opt for following the roadway for the Northern stretch but we'd head South back towards downtown. At this point, we could jog East and vary the route to accomodate different ride lengths even transiting through the East side of the downtown area to the Southwest, taking in the Broadmoor Hotel loop and enjoying the stunning scenery of Cheyenne Mountain before heading back downtown and finishing up with a meal/drinks at one of our fine local establishments, everything from steaks to Moroccan to crepe's.

Will you join us?
