SQUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUARK!

This just in: BF Club of Washington DC's Charmaine Ruppolt says: Here are the photos we took today, when we biked down to DC for the Inauguration! Temp was in the 20's, wind chill about 10 degrees, but the almost TWO MILLION people kept us warm!

Ryan Bowen 09

Pictured right: Ryan burned 3,000 miles of carbs, not hydrocarbs, to get to DC. But who's holding that pink Friday in the background?

"Who is that beautiful Bike Friday in the background?" askes Paul Adkins, on seeing this photo of Ryan Bowen cross country commuting to Washington.

It's one of those Princess Pink Fridays, some of which are featured on the PinkBike Site

Who is that mystery femme on a Friday? See the answer below!

While in DC, Ryan got some down-home Friday Friendly hospitality from BF Club of Washington DC leader Charmaine Ruppolt.

She writes: "Here are pictures taken during the time Ryan Bowen, the cross-country cyclist, stayed at our place for a night, and then we biked into DC to meet a Congressman, where Ryan was given a ticket to the Inauguration. Then Melinda and I biked around the Mall (to see some Concert festivities) after having lunch with John, my biking friend, and his sister ...

THE PINK FRIDAY FINGERED!

Thanks to John Pickett for his sleuthing:

The owner of the pink Bike Friday is Lauri Dubia.  Her picture is prominently featured on the Pink Bike web page. Incidentally, Ryan Bowen and his entourage stayed for several nights at the Mount Vernon VA home of Charmaine Ruppolt, head of the Bike Friday Club of DC. Charmaine and her roommate Melinda escorted Ryan on their Bike Fridays into the city, picking up Lauri and many others just before crossing the Potomac. - JP

SCREEEEEECH! What can we say? They don't call us Friday Friendly for nuttin'!

THE BEST SEATS OUTSIDE THE 'HOUSE

Both my brother and uncle were in town for the inauguration since they had scored tickets. They were trying to figure out the best way downtown, given that driving was insane and the metro would be packed. Since the Washington Area Bicycle Association had organized bike valet parking, and both were avid
cyclists, I sent them down on my Bike Friday Family Tandem. It took less than two minutes to get the seats adjusted for my 6 foot brother and (much) shorter uncle. They had a blast getting down there and posted the photo from location via facebook.

Ruthy Kanagy Obamabilia 09

BF Ambassador to Asia Ruthy Kanagy celebrated with her own variety of Obamabilia and this snippet:

Obama the Town Celebrates -- Lest you think that America was celebrating by itself today, we hear via Reuters that in Japan, the sleepy fishing town of Obama was partying too. “Temple bells tolled, fireworks were set off and residents danced the hula in the cold Japanese city of Obama on Tuesday to celebrate the inauguration of Barack Obama,” Reuters reports.
