I grew up in the Bike Friday family business. As Alan's oldest daughter, I started lacing wheels, counting inventory, sewing travel bags and painting racks after high school.
I traveled around the country investigating sustainable living at several research centers, and eventually I came back to Bike Friday to work full time in my early 20s.
Since then I have worked many different jobs in the company. It has been my university.
I started pulling parts orders and running errands. Later I managed Inventory, kitting bikes and managing the bike schedule.
I then moved to marketing and managed that for four years. When my Uncle Hanz decided to shift his participation in Bike Friday to an independent vendor making our racks and moving to where the skiing is plentiful in Washington state, I took on General Manager and Sales Manager.
Trained and inspired my my Dad's values of human power and small resource impact on the earth, I live car-free in the converted garage of my house right along the bike path. I either ride my bike or walk to work in the mornings. Eugene is a wonderful place to live car free.
