How would you like to build bicycles for a living? Ever dream of having a job building something environmentally benign that at the end of the day you can feel good about? Green Gear Cycling (Bike Friday) is an internationally recognized manufacturer of high performance folding bicycles for traveling and utilitarian/commuting use. Most of our designs are the market segment benchmarked product. We employ lean manufacturing techniques (Toyota Production System) to hand fabricate the bicycles here in Eugene, OR.
The qualities we want from you is THE combination of positive can do attitude, strong people skills, drive to get the job done, and most importantly, personal responsibility. A strong mechanical aptitude is also needed. Other personal qualities you will need are the flexibility to adapt to a changing environment, strong communication skills and a healthy sense of humor. Bicycle component knowledge and/or background in lean manufacturing would be a plus.
This would be a great opportunity for someone who wants to be in or remain in the bicycle industry OR has some flexibility in their schedule and desires to somehow get their foot in the door here at Bike Friday.
We have a part time and temporary position available. This position would be working both in the Service Department helping wrench on our bicycles, and helping boost the production team with the following activities:
Sandblast frames in preparation for powder coating
Mount tubes, tires, and cassettes on freshly built wheels
Help maintain inventory levels of bolts and hardware for the various production stations
A variety of other tasks to help boost Production
Perform various tasks for our One Size Adjusts To All (OSATA) production line of adjusting top tube bikes which have been popular with consumers as well as various State’s Safe Routes To School (SRTS) programs.

-Bicycle maintenance / adjustment skills are a big plus
