How to order your Bike Friday

So you've read Why to buy a Bike Friday and you're ready to find which of the many Bike Friday designs is right for you...

You can give us a call and have a Bike Friday Travel Consultant assist you with designing your own Bike Friday to fit your needs. If you are someone who enjoys doing your own research first, you can read through the questions below and call, e-mail or fax your selections to us. We'll go over the details and get back to you quickly to answer your questions between the different models and make sure we have everything right. If you would like us to call you, let us know your preferred times and we'll set up an appointment that's best for you.

Please note, if you have an upcoming trip that you want to have a Bike Friday for, please schedule your bike delivery date promptly, even if you haven't decided on everything yet. During our busiest summer seasons, this can mean 8 to 10 weeks. But, during our fall and winter seasons you'll want to ask your Travel Consultant about current sales promotions, if you haven't received one in an email or Foldable Flyer, already.

STEP 1... CHOOSE A MODEL
Decide what model Bike Friday you want based on the type of riding you do, or, if you're already familiar with Bike Friday, the specific model. Click here to go to the Bike Chooser.

STEP 2... CHOOSE A BIKE CONFIGURATION
For each Bike Friday model there are a number of model configurations offering different levels of componentry. Narrow down your choice using the Bike Chooser or set up an appointment with one of our Sales Consultants to discuss options.

Of course, you can deviate from these preferred designs, but we'd prefer to help you with this, and you might want to consult the component compatibility charts and read about the various handlebar, stem, shifter, brake and gearing options.

STEP 3... CHOOSE A COLOR
Read about our powdercoat "paints" or consult our current color chart.

STEP 4... CHOOSE YOUR ACCESSORIES
All models, except stock models, are specified without saddle and pedals. You can choose from our selection or supply your own. Typical accessories to add to your order include saddle, pedals, TravelCase and TravelTrailer, fenders, racks, TravelBag, suspension seat post and so on. Click here for the full Parts Catalog. And, we always think it's a good idea to have spare tubes, tools for tire repair, lights, mirrors and bells. So, we carry those items too.

STEP 5... SIZING
All models, except Stock models, are custom fit to the individual rider. Sizing is easy. Download our sizing form for full instructions. And, be sure to enter actual numbers without rounding. Guys, 213 pounds isn't 200 and inseam isn't your pant inseam - so don't round or look down, just measure and weigh, and write it down. Keep in mind, we build to order :o)

STEP 6... SHIPPING ADDRESS
Let us know where you want us to send your completed travel bike. Be sure to read our shipping guide.

Also, let us know what name you want to appear on the bike's nameplate. It can be your name, a nickname, or even the name you'd like your new steed to have for its own. In fact, many of our Asian customers have their nameplates done in native symbols. Have fun, be creative... remember, this is custom made for 'you'.

STEP 7... WHEN DO YOU NEED IT?
When you place your order, we will give you a promise date that will enable the bike to arrive on your doorstep when you actually need it. We recommend you order with enough time to spend a few days getting acquainted with your new Bike Friday. The usual turnaround time varies greatly due to the season, product availability and other variables. For most customers, we will deliver your custom Bike Friday in about 8-10 weeks.

Most of our customers have indicated that this is much faster than what they would have expected for a custom made bike. Nonetheless, there are periods during our peak season of early spring that can impact delivery times significantly. Expedited production spots are availabe if sooner delivery is required (fees apply). Please call a Travel Consultant today in order to find out what the current delivery schedule is. If your trip is coming up soon, don't wait another day.

STEP 8... PAYMENT
Because your bike is custom-built to order, we take full payment up front, by credit card, check, wire transfer, or cash.

Read about our excellent warranty policy. We guarantee fit with our Fit Stem Service, so be sure to ask how this would apply to 'your' Bike Friday.

*Note* If you would like to pick up your new Bike Friday at the factory in Eugene, Oregon you are welcome to come Monday through Saturday and enjoy meeting our family, while wearing safety glasses during our factory tours. If you would like to use our Red Apron Delivery Service, which offers a skilled Bike Friday Service Professional walking you through the packing and unpacking of your bike, please discuss this with your Travel Consultant ahead of time so we can schedule the day and time. The charge is $40/hour. Most Pocket Bikes take about an hour the first time, but Air bikes and Tandems can expect to take longer.
